The course focuses on the hazards associated with various primary types of machinery and the control of hazardous energy sources (lockout/ tagout). This is a Blended Learning Course. Students must complete a web-based training portion of the course prior to attending the resident portion. The web-based portion may require up to 5 hours seat time. The course focuses on hazards created by mechanical motions and actions, points of operation, and other machinery processes. Hands-on training in the Institute’s laboratories and plant tours provide opportunities to see equipment in operation.OSHA does not certify workers who complete 10- or 30-Hour OSHA Outreach training because the courses are voluntary and don’t meet training requirements outlined in any OSHA standards. These standards are the rules and regulations that OSHA requires employers to follow.According to a disclaimer on OSHA’s website: “Although some states, municipalities or others may require Outreach training as a condition of employment, it is not an OSHA requirement. None of the courses within the Outreach Training Program is considered a certification.”While OSHA doesn’t approve the use of phrases like “OSHA 10 certification” or “OSHA 30 certified,” workers and employers often use them anyways when referring to Outreach training.Introduction to OSHAManaging Safety and HealthWalking and Working SurfacesExit Routes, Emergency Action Plans, Fire Prevention and ProtectionElectricalPersonal Protective EquipmentMaterials HandlingHazard CommunicationHazardous MaterialsFlammable and Combustible LiquidsSpray FinishingCompressed GasesDipping and Coating OperationsPermit-Required Confined SpacesLockout / TagoutMachine GuardingWelding, Cutting, and BrazingIntroduction to Industrial HygieneRespiratory ProtectionIndustrial Noise and Hearing ConservationBloodborne PathogensErgonomicsFall ProtectionSafety and Health ProgramsPowered Industrial Trucks (forklifts)
